There’s another national champion in Oxford.

Sophomore shot putter Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan competed in the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on Thursday and made history in the process. The Rhode Island native led wire to wire in reaching 20.88m/68-6 on his final throw to become the 17th thrower in Division I history to claim indoor and outdoor titles in the same season.

“When you get to a certain level of consistency, you have to hit a big throw on your first throw, and then find a big throw after that,” Robinson-O’Hagan said. “It’s not the easiest thing to do, but I did it.”

Back in March, the Rebels star won the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championship in Boston, Mass. Robinson-O’Hagan is one of the youngest to ever pull of the NCAA sweep in the same season, becoming the first true sophomore to accomplish the feat since Auburn’s Edis Elkasevic in 2005.
