Ole Miss Athletics has unveiled its plan to sell tickets for the upcoming 2020 football season following the governor’s order limiting capacity within college football stadiums to 25%.
According to the university’s official announcement, home tickets will be available on a single-game basis and sold in “monthly selection waves.”
“In each wave, fans will be able to choose from the next month’s home games and pick their preferred stadium section, which will each be sold at 25 percent capacity. Ole Miss Athletics will determine the reserved seats for each ticket-holder by socially distancing accounts within each section.”
The decision to sell tickets on a month-to-month basis allows for potential adjustments should the capacity percentage be increased (or decreased) as the season goes on. OM Athletics explained that season ticket holders will receive an email with all ticket related information on Sept. 2.
“These circumstances required unconventional thinking, and we worked hard to develop a fair process that honors existing priorities,” Ole Miss AD Carter said. “We want to welcome as many fans as possible, and our hope is that more opportunities emerge over the course of the season. In order for that to happen, we all need to do our part and follow safety guidelines both at games and in our daily lives.”
Those safety guidelines include a mandate that fans wear a mask while entering and moving throughout the stadium and practicing social distancing. Additionally, in an effort to limit mass gatherings, tailgating has been prohibited through the governor’s executive order.
As part of its 10-game, conference only 2020 schedule, Ole Miss will host five games including:
9/26 – Florida
10/10 – Alabama
10/24 – Auburn
11/14 – South Carolina
11/28 – Mississippi State
