The Ole Miss women’s track and field team made history on Saturday, closing out the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships with three national titles.
To start the final day in Eugene, Ore., the Rebel quartet of Akilah Lewis, McKenzie Long, Gabrielle Matthews, and Jahniya Bowers made history by winning the 4x100m final for the first time in school history.

Following the relay, Long went on to win the 100m and 200m dashes, capping off one of the single-best days of competition for any Ole Miss track runner. The three victories pushed Ole Miss to 38 total points by the meet’s end, placing the Rebels at an overall program-record fifth-place finish.
“It’s been a wonderful season – totally, truly incredible – and I’m honored to be a part of what these young ladies and gentlemen have done,” said Connie Price-Smith, who coaches both the men and women at Ole Miss. “To come out here and get fifth in this arena with the people they were competing against has just been amazing, the whole year building up to this has been nothing but fun to be a part of and exciting to watch unfold.”
Under Price-Smith’s direction, Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan also secured a national championship in the men’s shot put.
