State authorities are assessing an officer-involved shooting that took place in Jackson.
According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance near Dixon Road Thursday night.
Upon arrival by police, an unidentified subject is reported to have approached an officer in a patrol vehicle and presented a weapon in the policeman’s direction. The officer discharged his firearm fatally striking the subject. Law enforcement involved did not receive any serious physical injuries.
MBI is currently looking into the incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
