Over 20 Picayune Memorial High School students were arrested for a “prank that escalated.”

That’s what Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison called the incident, per a report from WLOX. According to the local TV station, 21 students were arrested with at least 18 charged as adults with malicious mischief.

The teens were booked at the county jail with their parents coming to bond them out. Several underage students were also taken into custody and released to their parents.

At this time, neither Picayune Memorial nor the Picayune School District has publicly commented on the matter. As for what the prank entailed, that information has not been released.
