The Mississippi Highway Patrol’s Christmas Holiday Travel Enforcement Period began Thursday, December 23rd at 5 p.m. and concluded Sunday, December 26th, at midnight. During this time, troopers issued 6,520 citations, made 146 arrests for impaired driving, and investigated 174 crashes resulting in 30 injuries and one death.
The fatal crash occurred in Jasper County on Saturday, December 25th at 6:36 a.m. The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 503 when 24-year-old Darion Milsap of Vossburg, MS, lost control of the vehicle he was driving and hit a tree. Milsap was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
