Hurricane Ida brought heavy rainfall and flash flooding to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and a pair of Pascagoula police officers are being recognized for rescuing two people from a car that got stuck in the flood waters.
In a video shared by the Pascagoula PD, the officers, identified as Officer Collier and Sgt. Murphy, are shown extracting two women from the vehicle and getting them to safety.
In the aftermath of Ida, roads may remain flooded for some time. If you encounter a flooded road, do not try to drive through it.
