Person who died in Hancock County industrial accident identified

One of the victims involved in a fatal industrial accident in Hancock County has been identified, according to St. Tammany Parish coroner Dr. Charles Preston.

Harrison County native Tyde Woody, 25, was identified as one of the two men who received injuries from the accident, which took place at a facility operated by Jindal Tubular USA, LLC in the Hancock County Port Bienville Industrial Park.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on January 19 after a large steel pipe rolled over both men, leaving the two victims to be transported to local hospitals for their injuries.

Woody reportedly passed away at Slidell Memorial Hospital from multiple blunt force injuries shortly after. His autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23.

The other victim was airlifted to a New Orleans hospital following the incident. His current condition is unknown at this time.
