Mississippi’s Public Service Commission (MPSC) will be hosting a conference to bring leaders and the public to the table to discuss concerns and issues impacting taxpayers and consumers regarding solar power.
On Thursday, August 15, the Solar Summit will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the MPSC Courtroom in the Woolfolk Building in Jackson.
Notable speakers who will make an appearance include:
- Mississippi Power Company’s Rates and Regulatory Director Ben Vance
- Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson
- Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Dr. Brent Bennett
- Mississippi State Board of Contractors Executive Director Stephanie Lee
- Tennessee Valley Authority Director of Utility Scale Solar Ying Ayliffe
“This summit provides a unique opportunity for collaborative problem-solving and knowledge sharing, ensuring that our state’s energy policies benefit all ratepayers and consumers,” a statement from the trio of public service commissioners reads. “We invite industry experts, community leaders, and concerned citizens to participate actively in shaping the future of solar power in our state.”
The event, which is free to the public, aims to facilitate dialogue promoting teamwork among different groups to reach common objectives. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers.
