Ole Miss softball is heading to the Women’s College World Series for the first time in program history. The Lady Rebels (42-19) secured a 7-4 victory in the rubber match of the Arkansas super regional to secure a spot in the field of eight set to compete for a national title in Oklahoma City.
A two-run long ball by Lair Beautae got Ole Miss on the board in the top of the first inning. Jamie Trachsel’s crew was able to tack on a pair of additional runs in the frame. Senior Aliyah Binford was trapped between third base and home plate, but evaded the tag and scored. The other run came when Lexie Brady stole home.

The Lady Rebels’ 4-0 lead was short-lived as the Razorbacks were able to eat into their deficit in the bottom of the first inning. A bases-loaded walk gave Arkansas its first score of the contest. A three-run bottom of the second by the home club evened up the scoreboard. A walk, four singles, and a fielding error allowed the Razorbacks to neutralize the contest.
However, that was it for the Razorbacks in terms of meaningful offensive production. The Rebels tacked on a run in both the top of the fourth and fifth innings, then a solo home run by Lexie Brady gave the road club a three-run buffer going into the final frame.

Binford took the mound in the bottom of the seventh and forced a flyout before striking out two Arkansas batters to wrap the super regional series in red and blue. The Razorbacks stranded a runner in the final frame. Binford was tabbed with the win after striking out four and giving up just one run in 5.2 innings. Brady had a nice day at the plate with two hits, an RBI, and a home run.
Next up for Ole Miss, the only unseeded team in the Women’s College World Series, is a Thursday matchup versus Texas Tech on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT. The game will be aired on ESPN2. Aside from the Rebels and Red Raiders, the other teams vying for the title crown include: Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Oregon, and UCLA.
