Reeves’ Chief of Staff named new Executive Director at MDOT

Brad White, Governor Reeves’ Chief of Staff, has been selected as the next Executive Director of the Mississippi Department of Transportation. 

White was unanimously chosen by the Mississippi Transportation Commission and will begin his new position on July 1st. 

“Brad has a proven track record in managing governmental affairs on the federal level as well as the state level,” Transportation Commission Chairman Tom King said.  “He brings a wealth of knowledge of the legislative process and staff management.  He will certainly be an asset to MDOT and we look forward to working with him to move Mississippi’s transportation infrastructure forward.”

This won’t be White’s first time working within MDOT after he served as assistant to former Central District Commissioner Dick Hall from 1999 to 2005.

“I feel in some ways like I’m coming home. MDOT has always been a special place for me,” White said. “I look forward to what we can accomplish together working with the Transportation Commission and MDOT staff.”

White has served Governor Reeves since he took office in 2020, and in a Facebook post, the governor wished him well in his new position and added that a transition plan is in place. 

Melinda McGrath, the previous leader at MDOT, announced her retirement back in March as her re-confirmation was up for review by the Mississippi Senate.
