Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves has been selected to serve as the chairman of the Outer Continental Shelf (OSC) Governors Coalition.
Reeves, who was elected by fellow Coalition governors to hold the position for a two-year term, is expected to replace outgoing Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards.
“I’m honored to serve as the OCS Governors Coalition’s next chairman,” Reeves said. “I look forward to working with my fellow governors to improve communication between federal and state officials, preserve our coastal resources, and bolster energy production in our respective states.”
Formed in 2011, the coalition of bipartisan coastal governors includes:
- Mike Dunleavy (AK-R)
- Kay Ivey (AL-R)
- John Bel Edwards (LA-D)
- Tate Reeves (MS-R)
- Greg Abbott (TX-R)
According to Reeves, the coalition serves to advocate for safe offshore energy development through responsible resource management, as well as supports proactive offshore energy production as part of a comprehensive national energy policy.
The group also provides a discussion and policy platform for offshore energy issues shared by coastal states and the federal government.
