Repairs continue after water pressure restored at Jackson water treatment plant

After a week of little to no water pressure, Jackson residents should now experience a normal level of water pressure within their homes.

On Wednesday, the overall water pressure at Jackson’s O.B. Curtis water treatment plant was totaling in at 40 PSI. Officials stated during the week that the facility wished to nearly double that number, with a goal of raising the water pressure to 87 PSI.

Today, the plant has almost met its goal as the total output of water pressure sits around 85 PSI.

During Monday’s press conference, Governor Tate Reeves stated that three of Jackson’s water distribution sites will be closing as the water pressure across the city has risen exponentially.

Now, residents will be able to pick up water from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the following sites:

  • State Fairgrounds – 1207 Mississippi Street
  • Metro Center Mall – 3645 Highway 80
  • Smith Wills Stadium – 1200 Lakeland Drive
  • Davis Road Park – 2300 Davis Road in Byram

Currently, repairs are being made on the conventional and membrane portions of the plant, as well as fixing the chemical composition of the water. Officials also warn that the water pressure may continue to fluctuate as repairs and maintenance are conducted at the plant over the next few days.

A boil water notice is still in effect across Jackson, making Monday the 39th day since the notice first began in Mississippi’s capital city.
