Police have arrested a man in connection with a road rage incident involving a firearm in Hattiesburg.
According to the Hattiesburg Police Department, a witness of the exchange on U.S. 49 near the Interstate 59 exit called and said the driver of a truck fired several rounds at an 18-wheeler on Saturday.
Denton Temple, 53, of Purvis, later turned himself into the police and voluntarily admitted to the crime. He now faces one count of aggravated assault using a deadly weapon, one count of shooting into a motor vehicle, and one count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
It’s unclear what Temple has been convicted of in the past to be considered a felon. He is being held at the Forrest County Jail.
Hattiesburg Police added that no injuries came from the incident. The name of the 18-wheeler driver has not been released.
