An off-duty Mississippi police officer was handcuffed for drug possession following a routine traffic stop on Sunday morning.

Authorities in Lowndes County pulled over a vehicle operated by Brooksville police officer Chandler McArthur, Jr. for speeding on Highway 45. McArthur, 26, who had just finished a 16-hour shift, was reportedly traveling 85 miles per hour in a 65 zone.

After smelling the odor of marijuana in the officer’s vehicle, sheriff’s deputies initiated a probable cause search, which yielded the discovery of an unreported amount of marijuana. McArthur was ticketed for speeding and lack of insurance and charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle.

McArthur was transported to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center with his bond set at $1,361.
