Santa feeding fish to headline holiday event lineup at Mississippi Museum of Natural Science

The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is gearing up for a full slate of family-friendly festivities as the holidays near.

On Tuesday, the Jackson-based venue released its lineup of  “Museum Merriment” events, featuring turkey encounters to snowfalls and Santa diving to feed the fish.

“Our Museum Merriment events bring nature to life for our visitors as they make joyful memories with family and friends,” MMNS executive director Angel Rohnke said.

The full list of holiday-themed events can be found below

  • Tuesday, Nov. 25 (10 a.m. to noon): “Let’s Talk Turkey” — See live turkeys, learn how to talk turkey, create a turkey craft, and play turkey games. Included with admission or Mississippi Museum of Natural Science Foundation Membership.
  • Dec. 2 – 23 (Tues. and Fri. at 10 a.m., and Sun. at 2 p.m.): “Santa Feeds the Fish” — Watch Santa Claus scuba dive in the aquariums. Included with admission or MMNS Foundation Membership.
  • Friday, Dec. 5 (9 a.m. to noon): “S.T.E.M. with Snowflakes” — Enjoy hands-on, interactive games, experiments, crafts, and stories. Included with admission or MMNS Foundation Membership.
  • Saturday, Dec. 13 (6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.): “Snow Much Fun” — Play in snowfalls, create winter woodland crafts, conduct winter S.T.E.M. experiments, see Santa scuba dive to feed the fish, and have a “snowball fight” in a snow maze. Special ticket required or MMNS Foundation Membership.

Full event details and holiday hours can be found here. While the museum is currently undergoing renovations, visitors will still have full access to exhibits, and events will not be affected.
