School closures: These Mississippi school districts are closing due to arctic cold front

Mississippi is dealing with some very uncharacteristic arctic temperatures that could – and in some cases, already have – result in icy conditions and snow on roads and bridges.

In the interest of safety, several school districts and community colleges have decided to remain closed on Tuesday, January 16.

The list includes:

  • Brookhaven School District
  • Covington County School District
  • East Central Community College
  • Forrest County Agricultural High School
  • Forrest County School District
  • Holmes Community College – All locations
  • Jones County Junior College
  • Jones County School District
  • Lamar County School District
  • Laurel School District
  • Lawrence County School District
  • McComb School District
  • Perry County School District
  • Petal School District
  • Richton School District
  • Sacred Heart Catholic School
  • Simpson County School District
  • Smith County School District
  • Vicksburg Warren School District
  • Wayne County School District
  • West Jasper County School District
