Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann has named Marcy Scoggins of Madison as the newest member of the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board.

“Marcy is smart, hard-working, patient, and organized. She also has a heart for our schools and educators,” Hosemann said. “Ensuring our charter schools are high-quality is of critical importance and Marcy will take this responsibility seriously.”

Scoggins, a longtime Madison County Schools parent, currently serves as director of public distribution and communications at the Department of Finance and Administration. She previously served as executive director of the Mississippi Republican Party, as well as spent time working for former U.S. Congressmen Trent Lott, Chip Pickering, Jr., and Gregg Harper.

“The future of our state is in our children, so we must provide them with the best opportunities for success that we possibly can. This starts with a world-class education,” Scoggins said. “I am so grateful to be able to draw on my experiences as a parent and volunteer in Mississippi schools in this new role.”

Scoggins, a longtime board member for Magnolia Speech School, will be confirmed as a member of the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board during the 2023 legislative session, joining other selections in Jennifer Jackson Whittier of Lincoln County and Kim Remak of DeSoto County.
