Critical race theory is being taught in Mississippi schools, but under a different name, according to Senator Angela Hill. “Mississippi’s adoption of socio-emotional learning standards (S.E.L.) is basically the open door for it in the state of Mississippi,” she explained during an interview on The Gallo Radio Show.
And she says it’ll be up to parents to root it out. “MDE approved SEL back in December or October of 2020, and I know that Meridian School District or one in Lauderdale County had a big training session on it last week. There’s schools all over the state that are adopting SEL.”
She thinks it will be difficult for legislators to keep it out schools. “Because people are afraid to oppose anything that comes down from the Mississippi Department of Education. Because if you go against schools, you hate children and you hate the public schools.”
But she encourages Mississippians to look at the CASEL Webinars to see it for themselves.
