Seven additional bricks of cocaine discovered on Biloxi beach

posted in: Mississippi News | 0

Seven additional bricks of cocaine have been discovered in Biloxi after several people reported that they found suspicious packages, bringing the total number to 15.

This report comes after volunteers with AFSA Keesler Air Force Base Chapter 652 found eight bricks of cocaine during a beach cleanup near the White House Hotel.

More bricks were located near Biloxi’s Deer Island by the Department of Marine Resources. Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Director Steven Maxwell says that they are still investigating exactly where these bricks came from.

Maxwell believes that there was likely to be a larger amount of drugs that either fell off a vessel or were dropped off with the intention of being picked up by another person.

The investigation process led to the arrest of 37-year-old Joey Ware after police discovered that he had possessed cocaine in the same packaging as the other bricks that had been found. Ware is now being charged with aggravated drug trafficking.

Police were able to identify the source of the cocaine that Ware obtained because each package has a “Dior” label.

Agencies such as the Biloxi Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Customs Border Patrol, DEA, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics are still investigating the situation.
