To celebrate, the aquarium is gearing up to host its 2nd Annual Shark Weekend on Saturday, July 30, and Sunday, July 31.

Here’s everything you need to know about Shark Weekend 2022.

What does Shark Weekend entail?

On top of the seven different species of sharks that already live at the Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport, the University of Southern Mississippi’s shark research team will be present all weekend to teach visitors about shark biology, shark research, conservation efforts, and more. There will also be special activities for kids, including shark-themed crafts, games, and a scavenger hunt.

What kind of sharks will be at Shark Weekend?

The Mississippi Aquarium is home to seven different shark species: zebra, sandbar, bonnethead, spotted wobbegong, epaulette, coral cat, and white-spotted bamboo.

How much does Shark Weekend cost?

There’s no additional cost for Shark Weekend at the Mississippi Aquarium. General admission tickets are $29.95 for adults, $24.95 for children, and $26.95 for seniors. Tickets can be bought here.
