The pandemic took a toll on students, now some of the state’s community colleges are offering free summer tuition to get things back on track.
On April 1st, Northeast Mississippi Community College announced that 2021 summer school classes will be totally free plus $550 to cover living expenses, to those who have been affected by COVID-19. They also reduced the cost for dual enrollment classes for high school students.
Students may apply for tuition for a minimum of three and a maximum of 12 credit hours during the 2021 summer session at Northeast. Summer I begins Tuesday, June 1. Summer II begins Monday, July 5

Hinds Community College also announced they are offering free summer school. It covers tuition for up to 12 credit hours in Face-to-Face & Online courses, fees for registration, technology, lab, and distance learning, and learning resources and books sold from the Hinds CC campus bookstores or through their online store.
Current Hinds students, dual enrolled students, high school graduates, college transfers, and transient students are eligible.
