No. 22 Southern Miss and No. 23 Ole Miss each had successful weeks and held in the same spot in the latest D1Baseball Top 25 rankings.

The Golden Eagles picked up a 4-0 week after downing Southeastern Louisiana in walk-off fashion Wednesday evening and scoring their first road sweep of 2025. Nick Monistere played hero for a second week in a row, polishing off a 5-4 win at Pete Taylor Park over SELA with a walk-off solo home run before the black and gold hit the road.

In Boone, N.C., Southern Miss ace JB Middleton set the tone against the Mountaineers, tossing his first career complete game while allowing just one run and striking out eight batters in a 10-2 victory. The Golden Eagles stayed steady with a 7-3 win Saturday to clinch the series and held on 7-6 on Sunday for the road sweep.

Saturday’s win extended Southern Miss’ NCAA Division 1-leading streak of 23 straight 30-win seasons, now setting their sights on extending another nation-best streak of eight straight 40-win campaigns. The Golden Eagles play their final midweek contest of the year against New Orleans on Tuesday before welcoming Arkansas State to Pete Taylor Park for a three-game set.

Weekend recap: Ole Miss, Southern Miss win conference series as Mississippi State stumbles

Ole Miss picked a bounce-back home series win over then-No. 9 Vanderbilt during Double Decker weekend after last weekend’s loss to South Carolina. The pair of wins over the Commodores came after a Governor’s Cup victory over Mississippi State Tuesday in Pearl. Momentum carried over for the Rebels in an 8-3 win to open the weekend in Oxford on Friday.

On Saturday, it was all Ole Miss again in a 7-1 romp. Riley Maddox paced the red and blue with a career-high seven-inning start, allowing just one run, while Ryan Moerman complemented the effort with a three-run long ball. Vanderbilt salvaged the finale in resounding fashion, winning 13-0 on a frustrating day for the Rebels, which included an ejection of head coach Mike Bianco.

Ole Miss stays home for a midweek contest against Ohio Valley opponent Austin Peay on Tuesday before hitting the road for another SEC series against No. 21 Oklahoma.
