State health department puts hold on bulk of medical cannabis products

A large number of medical cannabis products have been placed on administrative hold by the Mississippi State Department of Health.

For the protection of medical cannabis patients, health leaders are putting a hiatus on the unspecified products until retesting can be conducted to ensure that they meet regulatory standards.

Leaders with the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program say they are taking swift action to address the current situation, with retesting set to be conducted as quickly as possible.

“The Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program is committed to upholding the highest standards of product quality and patient safety,” a release from the program stated. “Please know that the MMCP is working diligently to resolve this matter and will continue to provide updated information as it becomes available.”

As retesting yields results that are within regulatory standards, administrative holds will be lifted with products being made available again through licensed medical cannabis dispensaries.

Patients are asked to stay in contact with their respective dispensaries to see what products are available.
