State law enforcement authorities in Mississippi are celebrating a major drug bust in Jackson in August.

A collaborative effort between the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Capitol Police yielded the recovery of 100 pounds of methamphetamine, along with other drug-related items and stolen vehicles.

During the execution of a search warrant on August 7, authorities arrested Racquel Taylor for aggravated trafficking after reportedly finding her in possession of a large quantity of meth at a home on South Crownpointe Drive in Jackson. Five days later, officials took Tyrone Samuel into custody on charges of aggravated trafficking and conspiracy in the same case. Samuel is currently out on bond from Madison County.

Along with the meth, police seized two pounds of marijuana, 1,000 doses of M30 counterfeit Oxycodone containing fentanyl, a Draco 7.62 rifle, a stolen Ford Bronco out of Kentucky, and another SUV.

“This is great work done by our law enforcement officers by taking 100 pounds of methamphetamine and other drugs off our streets,” Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell said. “Every ounce or pound removed is a step toward safer communities and a clear message to criminals that illegal drugs have no place in Mississippi.”

Authorities are continuing to investigate this case. More arrests are likely.
