A Stone County man sustained two shotgun wounds and is currently hospitalized in stable condition. The suspected shooter has been arrested and is in custody.

The incident occurred on Hartfield Road and is under active investigation by the Stone County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Todd Stewart says 57-year-old Amenga Hall was labeled the suspect and stands accused of shooting a 46-year-old man Wednesday evening.

After an argument, Hall allegedly returned to the victim’s home with a shotgun, shooting him twice – once in the neck and once in the back.

The victim was taken to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg for surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

Two hours after the shooting, authorities executed a search warrant at Hall’s residence on Sweet Buelah Road. Hall was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
