Jackson is one of the most affordable places to live in the U.S., according to a study from Clever Real Estate.

Of the 100 most populous metropolitan areas in the nation, Jackson came in at No. 10 for its cost of living. Per the study, the typical home value in Mississippi’s capital city is $196,887, compared to the national typical value of $362,481.

Meanwhile, the average monthly home payment, including tax and insurance on a 30-year mortgage with 20% down, in Jackson is $1,259 — compared to the national average of $2,373. The average rent in Jackson is $1,473 per month. Nationally, that number stands at $2,070.
