The suspect injured in an officer-involved shooting in Natchez has died, according to officials.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office confirmed to WAPT-TV that Phillip Stokes, 19, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday afternoon.

Officers with the Natchez Police Department said, on May 11, they were trying to serve a warrant for attempted murder on Stokes. Stokes subsequently fired shots at officers, who returned fire, and critically wounded the suspect. He was transported to a hospital, where life-saving measures were attempted.
No officers were injured during the incident. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case and will turn its findings over to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
