A stolen 32-foot trailer has been recovered in Louisiana following an ongoing investigation that began in late December.
According to the Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau (MALTB), the gooseneck trailer was found in Baton Rouge last Thursday after being taken from a closed business in Jackson during the Christmas holidays.
MALTB was asked to assist in the investigation due to the possibility of being tied to an out-of-state theft ring, resulting in two suspects being identified as being connected to the incident. Investigators in Mississippi then reached out to Louisiana authorities for assistance and were able to locate the stolen trailer.
One suspect in possession of the trailer at the time of recovery was taken into custody by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office and later identified as Michael Eugene Littlejohn. Littlejohn has since been charged with possession of stolen property.
“Another recovery of private property from low down sorry thieves returned to the owner,” Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson stated. “Proud of our law enforcement team, the Mississippi Ag and Livestock Theft Bureau.”
The Jackson Police Department, Capitol Police Department, Richland Police Department, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted MALTB in the recovery of the trailer.
The incident is currently under investigation with additional arrests expected to come.
