Trio of teenagers escapes from Jackson youth detention center for second time in six months

The same trio of teenagers who escaped from a Jackson detention center last year are once again on the run.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones posted on social media Monday at 1:49 a.m. that Jashon Jones, 15, Robert Earl Smith, 16, and Tayshon Holmes, 17, had broken out of the Henley-Young-Patton Juvenile Justice Center. The three teens stole a blue 2007 Jeep Liberty from the parking lot and have not been seen since.

In a follow-up post, Jones revealed that three other detainees were transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the disturbance and before the escapes. Their injuries are considered non-life threatening.

In June 2023, the trio of Smith, Holmes, and Jones escaped from the same detention center and were captured over the next eight days. This time around, Jones said all three should be considered armed and dangerous as a gun is believed to have been in the vehicle they stole.

Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is asked to call (601)352-1521.
