Three teenagers have been taken into custody in connection with the death of a security guard in Mississippi’s capital city.
According to the Jackson Police Department, authorities began investigating a homicide at the M&M Food Express on the 500 block of Cooper Road. Detectives learned that the victim, identified as 60-year-old Roy Love, was robbed and shot at this location around 1:30 a.m.
Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade reports that three teenagers — 17-year-old Trent Wooten, 16-year-old Kadaris Cohen, and 17-year-old Zaylon Norton were arrested and charged with capital murder for Loves’ death.
The police chief said that surveillance footage at the scene showed the teens attacking the victim. The perpetrators reportedly stole Love’s weapon and then used a different firearm to shoot the man.
Two of the teens fled the scene on foot, and the third got away on a bicycle before ultimately being captured by law enforcement.
