For the first time in its 20 years of facilitating events in Pearl, Trustmark Park will become a winter wonderland.
The Mississippi Mud Monsters announced on Thursday that, beginning November 21, the ballpark will be transformed into a holiday-themed venue called “The Southern Lights,” offering a variety of activities that will transport visitors to a wintery storybook setting.
“The Southern Lights is where winter wonder meets Southern soul. More than just a light show, it’s a grand, immersive holiday experience unlike anything the South has ever seen,” event organizers wrote, while explaining what will be featured at Trustmark Park this coming winter season.
“Born from the idea that magic shouldn’t be reserved for the snow‑covered North, The Southern Lights transforms our mild winters into something extraordinary. Picture glowing trails of brilliant color, towering tunnels of light, open‑air ice skating beneath the stars, and the sweet scent of roasted marshmallows rising from crackling fire pits.”
The announcement of The Southern Lights fulfills a promise officials made to the public when they announced that a new professional baseball club would replace the Mississippi Braves last September. Leaders vowed that Trustmark Park, in addition to its role as a baseball facility, would be utilized for community-focused events.
Tickets to the festival, which will end in early January, will be available online beginning September 22.
