A Tupelo convenience store employee has pleaded guilty to her role in devising a lottery scheme that involved cashing in a $500,000 ticket.

Jessica Lynn Parker, 41, admitted earlier this month to embezzling funds and using her position at the Texaco on Barnes Crossing Road to identify winning lottery tickets.

According to police, Parker cashed in the winning ticket worth $500,000 in September 2022 before investigators were notified a week later. She was arrested the following month after police searched her home.

Parker admitted to her crimes earlier this month, but courts have deferred imposing a sentence. She could still face up to 20 years in jail as well as a fine of up to $25,000.
