Two Gulfport men arrested for distributing narcotics, possessing firearms

Two Mississippi men have been arrested on charges of distributing narcotics after police found large amounts of marijuana, cocaine, and pharmaceuticals in a residence.

On Wednesday, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 26-year-old Rashid Mequel Herring and 32-year-old Arthur Lamar Durr after an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Officers with Gulfport’s Anti-Crime Unit then served a search warrant at a residence located in the 3600 block of 19th Street, with detectives seizing multiple bags of cocaine, marijuana, an assortment of pharmaceuticals, multiple AR-15 style rifles with high-capacity magazines, a hunting rifle, and a handgun.

Herring was charged with one count of Possession of a Weapon After Felony Conviction, one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, and two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Pharmaceuticals.

Durr was charged with one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, and two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Pharmaceuticals.

During the investigation, officers were informed that Herring is a convicted felon and was on parole through the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Herring’s bond was set at $850,000 and Durr’s bond at $800,000. After being processed, Herring and Durr were transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
