Two anglers in the Magnolia State have officially been credited for reeling in record-breaking fish this year.
Nathan Bosarge of Biloxi set the all-tackle record for Golden Tilefish on May 20 with a fish weighing 23 pounds, 3.2 ounces. Bosarge’s accomplishment surpasses the previous record of a 20-pound, 11.68-ounce fish caught by Dustin Conway in 2021.
Using a spear, Mark Kleinpeter of Gautier amassed the all-tackle record for Permit on May 29 with a fish weighing 11 pounds and 11.2 ounces. The previous record for the fish species was recorded by Sean Cook, who landed an 11-pound, 0.76-ounce Permit back in 2020.
The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources has now officially certified the pair of state saltwater fishing records.
