On Tuesday, Tyson Foods announced a $90 million addition to its chicken processing plant in Forest.

The expansion of the facility is expected to create 320 new jobs and add new technology to the plant’s chicken processing line, which will also increase production capabilities.

“We’re excited about the expansion project at Forest and our continued efforts to increase our automation footprint,” David Bray, Group President of Poultry for Tyson Foods, said. “This project demonstrates our ability to execute a product mix change that translates into less intensive labor for team members while creating more jobs at a competitive pay structure. It’s a win-win to support the long-term growth of the Forest community and our operations.”

Tyson’s Forest location currently has around 1,250 employees with a yearly local economic impact of $58 million.

The latest investment is the largest one that Scott County has ever seen.
