In the early hours of Sunday morning, a 12-year-old boy is said to have been shot in Jackson with little explanation.
Detective Tommie Brown of the Jackson Police Department reports that that shooting happened shortly after midnight Sunday morning in the Woodrow Wilson area. The unidentified minor victim was with his uncle Kristen Walton at the time of the shooting when they were either outside walking or sitting in a vehicle.
The boy is said to have seen the flash of a gun, though he was unable to see where it came from, and was shot once in his lower right back. Walton then apparently dropped the boy off at his home without explaining what happened to those there.
Detectives are now searching for the uncle but he is reportedly not a suspect in the ongoing investigation.
