When Southern Miss travels to Liberty this Saturday, they may be without their head coach.†
USM Athletics announced that interim head coach Scotty Walden has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-isolating at home.†
ďEarlier this morning I tested positive for COVID-19,Ē Walden said. ďI am fine and have mild to no symptoms. I am quarantining back home until it is safe to rejoin the team. I want to thank Golden Eagle Nation for all of their support for our program during this difficult period. I want to thank our players and staff for continuing to be incredibly resilient during such an unstable time.Ē
This news comes after Southern Missí last two games have been postponed due to the virus. While the FAU matchup was pushed back due to an outbreak within the Owlís program, an outbreak in Hattiesburg prevented the UTEP game from taking place.†
Walden went on to say that the team will continue to prepare to travel to Liberty and he will oversee team activities from home.†Walden will take an additional PCR test Wednesday to confirm his status.†
Recently, C-USA moved the date of its title game to December 18th ó allowing for postponed games to be made up.†
