A trio of men have been arrested following a shooting that broke out during the exchange of a child in the parking lot of the Ocean Springs Police Department.
Deputy Chief of Police Steven Dye says that, on Monday evening, the parents of a 2-year-old girl arrived at the police station to make a visitation exchange. An argument began after the stepfather, father, and the father’s friend stepped out of their vehicles.
During the altercation, the stepfather is said to have brandished a firearm and began firing at the father and his friend. The other two then fired retaliatory shots. Law enforcement discovered 36 shell casings and three firearms on the scene.
The father, 23-year-old Corey Taylor, and his friend, 27-year-old Anthony Hall, were both charged with aggravated assault. Taylor is in stable condition at Ocean Springs Hospital after being struck by a bullet. The stepfather, 27-year-old Devon Gray, is facing two charges of aggravated assault.
Officials say that the mother and child were not injured in the incident.
