Vivian O’Neal wins Miss America’s Preliminary Fitness Category

Miss Mississippi Vivian O’Neal is one of the three winners of Miss America’s Preliminary Fitness Category.

O’Neal was announced as a winner of the fitness category during Wednesday night’s portion of the competition, along with Miss Maryland and Miss Tennessee.

The Hattiesburg native walked away with a $3,000 scholarship at the end of her first night, with O’Neal already completing the On Stage Question and Evening Gown categories.

O’Neal’s next step will be competing in the talent portion of the Miss America competition on Thursday, where she will be performing a dance routine.

At this time, the Miss America competition has kicked off with private interviews on Sunday night, with preliminaries kicking off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10. As for the Miss America Teen competition, contestants started preliminaries at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

The next Miss America will be crowned on Sunday, Jan. 14 while the winner of this year’s Miss America Teen will be announced on Saturday, Jan. 13.
