A new chapter of professional baseball will begin in central Mississippi next spring and the public is being asked to help name the next team coming to Trustmark Park — a decision that will be made soon.
Now that the Mississippi Braves have officially concluded 20 seasons in Pearl and will be relocating to a new home in Columbus, Georgia, officials are preparing to welcome a Frontier League club to take the Double-A affiliate’s spot.
With the new team set to make its debut in just under eight months, ownership and management are seeking the public’s guidance in giving the club an identity. The three options are:
- Mississippi Mud Monsters
- Mississippi Grits
- Mississippi Soul Shakers
Those interested in being a part of the team-naming process have until Thursday at 11:59 p.m. to vote. Votes can be made here.
