Tire and steel wheel company Saylor Wheel LLC has released plans to locate manufacturing operations in Greenwood.
The project, which is expected to create 145 new jobs in the area, represents a $23.4 million corporate investment.
“This $23.4 million investment and 145 new jobs is a testament to the strength and vitality of Mississippi’s economy,” Governor Tate Reeves said. “The products produced by Saylor Wheel right here in Mississippi will help drive economic growth and strengthen Leflore County.”
Saylor Wheel will create assemblies for the trailer industry with the steel wheels vertically integrated into the manufacturing process. The investment also includes the purchase and rehabilitation of an existing building in Greenwood, as well as the purchase of manufacturing and non-manufacturing equipment.
“Two words come to mind regarding the start of Saylor Wheel: gratitude, and teamwork,” Saylor Wheel’s president, David Saylor, stated. “Now is the time to make wheels in the Delta.”
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance in support of the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX). Leflore County and Greenwood also are assisting with the project.
Rehabilitation of the building will soon be underway, with the company aiming to begin operations in the coming months.
