The House of Representatives voted to increase the second round of federal direct payments from $600 to $2-thousand-dollars last night. Nearly every House Democrat–including MS Congressman Bennie Thompson, supported the increase. But 130 Republicans–including MS Representatives Michael Guest, Trent Kelly and Steven Palazzo voted against it. Whether the Senate will even take up the proposal is unclear.
