A woman has been arrested for an illegal gaming operation in north Mississippi.
On Thursday, deputies with the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office as well as agents with the Mississippi Gaming Commission and Alcoholic Beverage Control executed a search warrant at the AK Express Mart on Highway 8 East.
At the location, law enforcement discovered several gaming machines reported to be illegal alongside money believed to have been used for unlawful gambling. The currency and one gaming device were confiscated by police. The other machines were destroyed.
Amy Watson was arrested and charged with gaming violations, illicit alcoholic beverage sales, and illegal gambling. Watson was taken to the Grenada County Jail and given a $2,500 bond. The owner of the gas station was contacted while authorities were at the scene, but police say he refused to show up at the location.
According to records from the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office, Amro K Alomari owns the AK Express Mart.
Authorities are continuing to investigate illegal gambling operations in Grenada County and other parts of Mississippi.
