A woman was struck and killed by a train in Jackson on Friday morning.
The Jackson Police Department reported that the fatal incident took place on the train tracks at Livingston Road and Schoolview Drive around 10 a.m. Officials confirm that the unidentified female, who is believed to be homeless, passed away at the scene.
Police say the victim was likely lying down on the tracks when she was hit.
Canadian National Railway, the company that owns the train involved, is investigating the fatal incident alongside JPD.
